My little niece lóves Frozen. And I mean LOVES Frozen! She sings "Let It Go" all day long, whilst making Snow Queen gestures. It is so much fun to see! My favorite part is that she doesn't really know the lyrics - she tries to sing them in English even though she is Dutch! - and just sort of makes up her own words as she mumbles through the parts she doesn't know so well. And let's face it: that part is basically everything but the "let it go" bits... so cute!

So I wasn't really surprised when I asked her what I could make for her that she wanted a Frozen character. I wás surprised that she chose Anna and not Elsa! But who am I to judge and I went to work. I found this awesome and quite perfect free pattern (sorry, no longer available - alternative pattern link at the end of this blogpost) and made this little doll.

Let's take a closer look:

I loved doing the little embroidery on her jacket and skirt. The combination of the cuddly crochet with the delicate embroidery is just magical! The biggest problem was the hair. I still have to learn how to do amigurumi doll hair properly. The problem was that I wanted it to be full, long and in braids without any scalp showing. I was glad when the final braid was braided! Phew!

This doll is thoroughly loved by my niece, in fact now she wants and Elsa/Anna topsy-turvy doll. I'm working on it now - keep posted! The cape was quickly lost and the little doll shows a little wear and tear from all the snuggling, but that is what a doll is for!

Want to make your own? As I already mentioned, the exact pattern that I used for this doll is no longer available, but THIS PATTERN offers a nice alternative!

Happy Crocheting!
