Baby Boy Blanket!

Crochet Baby Boy Blanket Free Crochet Pattern

A friend of mine became a grandmother for the first time! Yes, apparently I'm entering the grandma-stage of life... Her daughter had a little baby boy and I wanted to make her something special. I scoured the internet for the perfect pattern and browsed the shops for soft baby-proof yarn that was easily washable and would produce a blanket that was not too heavy. I finally decided on a light, soft acrylic yarn that is machine washable and super-light. And yes, I went for the traditional white and light blue colors. What can I say, I couldn't help myself! 😄

This would be the very first baby blanket I had ever made and so I sort of had to guess how big I wanted the blanket to be and decided on crib blanket size, which according to the pattern (and ofcourse Google!) is about 30" x 30".

Apologies for my terrible pictures, for some reason I only think of taking photos of my work (in progress) at night, when the light is terrible and I'm in a hurry... But I think you get the idea of what it looked like. What the pictures do not show is the border of the blanket. I made the nice border that was described in the pattern, so head over to that website for the pictures there to see what that looks like!

I tried to make the package (I included an envelope with a card and some cash) as festive as possible by crocheting a big bow and "ribbon" to go around the folded blanket. I'm very happy to say that the recipient loved it (both the blanket ánd the cash hahaha) and I felt happy to be able to give it to her. It is always special to give your time and love away in a handmade product!
Want to make your own? Here's the pattern for the blanket. Sorry, no pattern for the bow or ribbon, I kinda made that one on the fly.
